“Specks of Dust” by Madhurya Vishwanath
The honey dipped lilies,
The moon lit jasmines,
The cherry colored roses,
The tiny bougainvillea flowers
That teasingly hide behind blushy pink leaves.
How beautiful are they?
For the petals they bear
Are far more than the sunsets they survive
And soften more…
Until all that’s left is brown brittle shreds
Of the once brightest petal.
Our life is no different, Is it?
You live yours…
I live mine…
And even if I don’t know you
Some day we’ll gently cross paths
As specks of dust carried by wind
From a far away land we both wished to see…
